Unova arrives, and the Trainer Circuit Opens!
156 new Pokémon, a five-division battle campaign, doubles battles, challenges for your whole server, and the biggest research update yet is now here.
Generation 5 is here#
All 156 Pokémon from Unova now spawn, hatch, evolve, so start filling up your Pokédex.
Keep a look out for Kyurem, waiting in the Giant Chasm.
The Trainer Circuit#
The real battling you have all been waiting for! Introducing the Trainer Circuit! The Trainer Circuit is a full battle campaign containing five divisions from Rookie to Master, each with six trainers to beat, ending in an Ace. Bring six Pokémon that meet the division's level, make sure they are well trained as it can be difficult, then clear a division to unlock the next.
The first time you beat a trainer you will be rewarded coins, and once you finish a division you can rematch the trainers for a smaller payout against a smarter opponent.
Once you clear the Master Division you will earn the Exp. Share! It splits battle XP across your party. Get ready for a challenge, it takes a master to beat the master division!
Doubles battles#
/battle now has a Doubles format. You will send out two Pokémon per side with real targeting and spread moves. Make sure you set it in the rules to make it work!
Competitive Doubles runs the rules real doubles formats run. Note: Double Battles are in testing so expect some bugs, and also expect to see it used in some new modes with your friends very soon!
There's new gear in the shop to fight with too. 22 new Battle Items are now added including the Choice Band, Choice Specs, and Choice Scarf! And some items never hit the shop at all. They drop from wild Pokémon that hold them, so check what your catches are holding!
Set your own battle rules#
Battles got a full rules rework. Pick a format when you /battle someone: Casual (no rules, bring what you want!), Casual Doubles, Competitive at Lv 50 on Showdown Ubers rules, Competitive Doubles, or Competitive at Lv 100.
Or build your own. Singles or doubles, bring 3 or bring 6, fight at your own levels or capped at 50 or 100, and toggle the real clauses one by one: Species, Item, Evasion, OHKO, Sleep, and more. Your opponent sees every rule on the challenge before they accept, with a live countdown so nothing expires mid-setup.
Challenges for your server#
/research has a brand new community function. One weekly goal your whole server works towards together for a nice reward. You are enrolled just by playing! No need to push any buttons, just progress towards the goal and get a nice reward!
The goal rotates every week with a new one. These include a Group Catch, a Field Survey for new species, a Training Drill of battle wins, an Evolution Study, or a Hatchery Shift. The target scales to your own server's last week, so a two-person server has a real shot and a busy one still gets a proper community push. Clear it and everyone who contributed gets paid for what they contributed to the challenge.
New special research chains#
Four more special research chains are now available. Start some new research which leads to encounters with Victini, Deoxys, Shaymin, and Keldeo. Every research now tells a story. The professor will lead you through the story as you progress through the research.
Research pays properly now#
Tasks now pay more! The tasks now pay ₽150 for Poké tier, ₽250 for Great, and ₽400 for Ultra. Also, new tasks now arrive when you finish your whole slate, instead of just one at a time.
Kyurem fusion#
For those who are lucky enough you can use DNA Splicers to fuse Kyurem with Reshiram or Zekrom for Kyurem-White or Kyurem-Black. You can unfuse them whenever you want without losing anything as well!
Some new battle scenes!#
Three new commissioned backdrops are live in the wild. These are the snow field, deep woods, and a cemetery. These are linked directly to the typing of the Pokémon.
Every other battle got the same treatment. PvP duels, the Circuit and boss fights all used to be fought on one single field no matter who you were facing. They now pick their scenery from your opponent, the way a wild encounter always has, and the Circuit has its custom halls.
Better DMs#
Playing in the bot's DMs got a real upgrade. You can now play any of the modes inside the DMs without them being ephemeral, meaning you can't accidentally close it by hitting dismiss. Commands that used to show in DMs that can only be used in servers also no longer show.
For server owners#
The command list in /config is shorter on purpose. It now only offers the five commands that actually put something in your channel: encounter, battle, trade, show, and leaderboard. Everything else answers privately to whoever typed it, so restricting those never changed what your server saw. If you had older restrictions saved on private commands, they no longer apply.
The Pokédex went online#
The whole Pokédex is now on the website: all 649 species with stats, abilities, movesets, type matchups, and exactly how to get every single one. Search it at catchemcord.com/pokedex while you hunt!
The little things#
- The Reveal Glass is in the shop. It toggles Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus between their Incarnate and Therian formes.
- Eggs now show the games' own status line, so you can tell how close one is to hatching.
- Deerling and Sawsbuck wear a random coat, all four seasons, all the time.
- The Pokédex tabs are in dex order, and the box caps how much it loads at once so big collections stay fast.
- Use more than one of an item at a time from your bag.
- The box marks who is holding the Exp. Share.
- Zoroark's Illusion works on the battle screen. The spawn card shows the Pokémon it is pretending to be, so the disguise actually works.
- The website now has a full how to play guide at catchemcord.com/guide.
Fixes#
- Clicking fast in a PvP battle can no longer spend two turns' worth of actions.
- The victory card at the end of a wild battle now shows the exact Pokémon you fought: Unown letters, cloaks, seas, and female sprites included.
- Your team is locked while a battle is running. You cannot use Rare Candies, gain evolutions or have any party changes during a battle.
- Command tweaks in
/configshowed nothing at all if you had locked a command to ten or more channels. - Some Pokémon could not be reminded of moves they learn when they evolve.
- A legendary you had already worn down could stop coming back.
- The Day Care no longer calls Nidorina a Legendary. Some Pokémon just can't breed, and the message reflects that.
- The Rotom Catalog has a picture in the shop again.
- Defeating a fished-up Pokémon now offers to cast again, the same as catching it always did.
- A Pokémon that uses Sketch in PvP keeps the copied move after the battle.
- Walrein no longer hovers above the ground on its cards.
- Form-changed Pokémon show their forme's real Ability on their cards, not the base one.
- The last line of a battle gets proper reading time instead of flashing past.
- Winning at Lv 100 says your Pokémon's name instead of a generic line.
One more thing#
Something is coming this Halloween. Keep an eye on the woods at night.
